My name is Courtney Drake-McDonough. I’m a Denver native with more than 30 years of experience in writing, editing, public relations, and marketing. Here are some important things you should know before working with me:

I pride myself in not following the conventional wisdom. I haven’t read everything I can get my hands on about how to write or market or run a business. If I did that, then everything I produced would be a cookie cutter of what everyone else is putting out there and who needs more of that? Working off my instincts and my experience as a fellow human being who uses services and buys things, I put myself in the place of your audience.

Because I have worked as the member of the media being approached by a business, as well as being the person reaching out to the media, I have the unique perspective of understanding what both sides of the fence need. I’m also a marketing person who is also a journalist so I can bring the skills of both worlds together. That’s a huge plus for you!

I can be your voice. Every business is different as are the people whose blood, sweat and tears went into creating it. Whether it’s social media posts, a new menu, advertising, or press releases, websites, or blogs, I will represent you, sounding like you, getting your interests and passions across, truly representing your business.

When it comes down to it, it isn’t so much about what you want your audience to know as much as it’s about what they, the consumer, needs to know and how they will best receive that information and act upon it. That takes creativity, logic and perspective. Fortunately, I happen to have all of that.
